MAYFLOWER II – ORIGINS
Randal Charlton describes what inspired his father Warwick Charlton to build the Mayflower II. How his experience in World War II with British Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery “Monty” allowed him to see first-hand American generosity and sacrifice. Randal also explains “The Deal” between Harry Hornblower and his father that gave Warwick the responsibility for building Mayflower II and sailing her to America.
MAYFLOWER II – NEW YORK CITY 1957
MAYFLOWER II sailed in New York Harbor on July 1, 1957, the first stop on a tour that took her to Miami for the winter and Washington, D.C. in April 1958. The New York event generated tremendous excitement about Mayflower II and her message of democracy across the United States and around the world. But there was more to the story. The Mayflower II has secrets.
MAYFLOWER II – A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

Nathaniel Philbrick, the best selling author of “Mayflower: A Story of Courage, Community, and War” spoke publicly about the ship, saying “the Mayflower II is much more than a replica of a famous ship. She is a famous ship in her own right. She is also a symbol. A source of inspiration.”
