Official Launch

September 7, 2019

Following a three-year restoration at Mystic Seaport Museum’s Henry B. duPont Preservation Shipyard, Plimoth Plantation proudly presented the Official Launch and Re-Commissioning of Mayflower II.   The ship was christened with water from all 50 states as well as Plymouth, U.K., and Leiden, Netherlands, before it was lowered into the water.

The Mayflower  launch featured an engaging program of speakers and entertainment that set the stage for the ceremonial christening before the ship was lowered into the Mystic River for the first time since her restoration began in November 2016.

Thousands of guests filled Mystic Seaport and the bay to witness this once-in-a-lifetime event.
