LETTER TO THE EDITOR OF THE EAGLE (May 2, 1957)

Henry Hornblower II, President of Plimoth Plantation, wrote a letter “To the Editor of THE EAGLE” in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on May 2, 1957, “to clear up a point or two in connection with the voyage of Mayflower II, her destination and permanent resting place.”

Hornblower told readers that “an exchange scholarship fund for American and English students” was to be established with a portion of the revenues generated by Mayflower II.   He said the Plantation was “grateful to the British sponsors for the generous gift to the people of America.”

Warwick Charlton and Project Mayflower were not mentioned in the letter.
